About This Tracker
Purpose
This Flight Cancellation Tracker monitors the impact of the U.S. Department of Transportation shutdown on flight operations across 40 major U.S. airports. Starting from November 7, 2025, we track all flight cancellations to provide transparency and help travelers make informed decisions.

Data Source
Flight data is sourced from AviationStack API, which provides real-time flight information from aviation authorities and airlines worldwide.
- Data updates: Every 12 hours
- Coverage: 10,000+ airports, 13,000+ airlines
- Status tracking: Scheduled, active, landed, cancelled, diverted
Methodology
Shutdown Attribution: All flight cancellations from2025-11-07 onwards are attributed to the DOT shutdown impact. This provides a comprehensive view of the operational disruptions caused by the shutdown.
Data Collection: Our backend worker automatically fetches cancellation data twice daily and caches results for optimal performance.
